FINE ROUET PISTOL DAGGER. Round pommel chased with eight-petal flowers on both sides. Iron filigree handle with two rings in a row. Iron hilt with two strong chased quillons scrolled towards the tip, extended by a round barrel towards the muzzle, then with decorated thunderbolt sides, supporting a long flat-bodied action, with external wheel under circular flange, decorated with striations and also serving as a spring for the hammer. Bassinet with rounded lid. Trigger tail with ball. Center-cornered hammer. Lock tail stamped with a unicorn. The front of the lock is screw-fastened to a strong square heel decorated with columns, extended by a thin triangular blade. No original counterplate. Fully visible mechanism. An astonishing and unique piece of high quality, with a functional mechanism, probably made as a masterpiece or by a most ingenious gunsmith. B.E. composite, partly 16th century, later handle. Platinum hallmark listed in the "Stockel" under number 4931, dated circa 1540. Provenance : -Former Pierre Weité collection (Montbéliard) -Former Alain Serpette collection History: Of small caliber, around 8 mm, the pistol was intended to fire darts like the three-barreled one preserved at the Armeria Reale in Turin and attributed to Charles V.
