NAPOLÉON IER. Manuscript dictated to the COMTE DE MONTHOLON. Longwood à Sainte-Hélène, April 13-24, 1821. 11 pp. in-folio on 6 ff. of English laid paper watermarked "J. Whatman 1819 Balston & C°" or with the mark of these mills; 5 of these leaves show a perforation probably caused by a tie. ATTACHED, a copy of the main part of the will in the handwriting of the Comte de Montholon. The whole set in an in-folio replacement portfolio, dark green morocco, spine ribbed, cloisonné and decorated with gilt imperial emblems, boards decorated with gilt coats of arms in the center within a wide gilt mosaic frame bearing several crowned initials "N" and gilt imperial eagles, filleted edges, wide gilt frieze inner frame, several engravings and reproductions, one mounted on the first counterplate and the others applied to inner leaves (bound by Riviere & son).
