RARE FLAG EAGLE HARNESS. In red morocco, decorated with silver thread embroidery of a series of oak leaf branches and laurel leaves, framed at the edge by a series of interlaces. The cap is decorated en suite, reinforced on the back with a piece of natural leather holding the two-barbed, gilded iron trigger guard. Unfolded length: 1.58m. B.E. First Empire period, very rare. (wear from use and service). Provenance : - Jean Louis Noisiez Collection. History: The decision of February 8, 1812, noted by Pierre Charrié, states that the flag will be supported by a wide scarlet collar in the form of a stole with gold or silver scroll embroidery. This collar passes over the shoulders, its branches meeting at the bottom in front to receive the pike by means of a socket. The "Carnets de la Sabretache" of 1901 also give a similar text: "The harness of the first eagle bearer will be red, decorated on both edges with a small gold or silver braid according to the color of the body button, with a gold or silver buckle and a solid boot or socket to support the heel of the flag.
