Charles Louis Lucien MULLER (Paris 1815 - 1892) - Lot 47
Charles Louis Lucien MULLER (Paris 1815 - 1892)
Queen Marie-Antoinette at the Conciergerie: Prayer Table.
Panel, one board, non-parqueted, unframed.
41 x 32 cm
Replica of the painting exhibited at the 1857 Salon under no. 1982 and now in the Hambourd Kunsthalle (HK-1893).
The scene recalls the last days of Marie-Antoinette's imprisonment at the Conciergerie, where, deprived of everything and under constant surveillance, she is depicted here in a sublimated vision of a final meal in faith.
This lot is presented with the expertise of René Millet.
