1978 MG B - Lot 89
1978 MG B Series GHN5UJ451809G Collector's registration 15 000 / 20 000 - Mythical roadster By the early 1950s, the iconic British Morris Garage was lagging behind its competitors in terms of both technology and design. To renew the range, engineer Albert Sydney Evener took charge of development at MG. His success led to the launch of the MG B. Launched in 1962, this roadster was also available in a GT version from 1965. Its initial engine was a BMC B-Series in-line 4-cylinder with 1.8 L displacement, with twin S.U. carburetors. There were four different versions of this model, the successive MK1, MK2, MK3 and MK4. In terms of bodywork, the initial model was modified from 1975 onwards, in particular to comply with new American regulations. Polyurethane bumpers were added, the ground clearance was raised by three centimeters, and the engine was "depolluted". Production of the legendary MG B ceased in 1980, but the MG A and MG B remained the world's most popular convertibles for some years to come. The example we are offering for sale is one of the last to be produced. During its restoration, chrome bumpers were fitted, in keeping with the car's original style. In beautiful condition, this MG is ready to take to the roads of France. 1978 MG B Series GHN5UJ451809G Collector's registration 15 000 / 20 000 - Mythical roadster In the early 1950s, the iconic British Morris Garage was lagging behind its competitors in terms of both technology and design.
