1963 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA SPRINT 1600 1963... - Lot 71 - Osenat
1963 ALFA ROMEO GIULIA SPRINT 1600 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Sprint coupé Chassis n°AR354863 French registration - One of the last Giulietta models to leave the factory - Timeless lines - High-quality total restoration - Ideal for historic drives and rallies Introduced in April 1954, the Giulietta coupé ushered in a new era for Alfa Romeo in terms of design and motorization. Elegantly designed by Franco Scaglione, chief stylist at Bertone, assisted by Mario Boano, then at Ghia, its sleek lines, agility and high performance (160 km/h claimed at the time) quickly earned it considerable success. From 1962, the Giulietta was replaced by the Giulia, with its more powerful 1,600 cm3 engine. From then on, the coupé, renamed Giulia for commercial reasons, retained the same body lines as the previous Giulietta, but featured a new interior with a new dashboard. Equipped with a 1,570 cm3 engine developing 91 bhp at 6,200 rpm, a 5-speed gearbox and disc brakes, these new coupes will coexist with the 1300 cm3 until production ceases. A total of 7,107 Giulia Sprint 1600s were built, the last in 1964. The car we present is one of the last Giulia Sprint 1600 coupes to leave the Alfa Romeo factory, before production of the model ceased in 1965. The car we're presenting was acquired by its owner some ten years ago, and the bodywork had just been completely rebuilt. Since then, the mechanics and running gear have been completely rebuilt. What's more, the upholstery has just been redone. So it's a healthy and revised Giulia that we present to you here.
