1973 MORRIS Mini 850 Series: MON011163Z Collector's registration The Mini project was launched in 1957 by Leonard Lord, head of BMC (British Motors Corporation). Three teams of engineers competed, and Alec Issigonis was chosen. He opted for a front engine, but to save space he placed it in a transverse position, which simplified transmission problems. The passenger compartment occupies 80% of the volume of this small, agile car that fits in anywhere. The Mini 850 belongs to the MK III generation, from 1969 to 1979, when the brand abandoned the Austin and Morris distinction in favor of the unique "Mini" appellation. This model was considered the "standard" version, while the 1000 was the more opulent version. From this generation onwards, the brand upgraded its range in technical terms, but only details differentiated these models from their predecessors. At the time, customers had a choice of conventional or automatic transmission. The model we are presenting for sale was delivered new to Spain and remained there for the rest of its life, until the current owner imported it to France in 2020. In beautiful condition, this car was restored a few years ago and runs perfectly. Like any mini, the engine is sparkling and the chassis devilishly efficient.
