1983 PORSCHE 944 Series: WP0ZZ94ZEN402088 CG... - Lot 65 - Osenat
1983 PORSCHE 944 Series: WP0ZZ94ZEN402088 CG COLLECTION Front-engined Porsches were intended to modernize the aging image of the famous 911 and ensure more balanced roadholding thanks to better weight distribution. A genuine Porsche engine (a half-V8 from a 928), it features counter-rotating balancer shafts offering remarkable flexibility for a 4-cylinder, rivalling that of some competing 6-cylinders. With 163 hp, the 944 still managed a top speed of 220 km/h. In June 1981, the car was presented to the public, production started in November, and it went on sale at the end of 1981. In April and May 1982, the American and British markets also received the 944. The following year, the 50,000th model rolled off the production line, demonstrating the appeal of this vehicle to the public. In 1991, after 10 years of production and 176,126 units sold worldwide, the 944s were discontinued, to be replaced by the new 968s, based on the 944s. There's no doubt about it: this is a true Porsche, easy to live with. The example we are offering for sale was acquired by its current owner in Spain a few years ago, since when the transaxle and brakes have been replaced. Routine maintenance has been followed rigorously, the timing gear replaced in November 2019, 1000 km have been covered since then. Note that there is a problem with the clutch release bearing. 1983 PORSCHE 944 Series: WP0ZZ94ZEN402088 CG COLLECTION Front-engined Porsches were intended to modernize the aging image of the famous 911 and ensure more balanced roadholding thanks to better weight distribution.
