1955 CITROEN TRACTION 15/6 H Chassis number:... - Lot 35 - Osenat
1955 CITROEN TRACTION 15/6 H Chassis number: 727677 French registration Unusual gray color The ultimate evolution of the model, the 15/6 Oléopneumatique was unveiled to the press on April 15, 1954. Revolutionary at its birth in April 1934, the Traction returned to the forefront 20 years later, inaugurating a revolutionary suspension system that would equip the DS 19 18 months later. The new system abandons the classic cruciform rear axle with transverse torsion bars and telescopic shock absorbers. The heart of the system consists of a high-pressure pump mounted on the engine block and driven by a 3rd belt, a circuit-breaker also mounted on the engine block and connected to an accumulator sphere containing pressurized nitrogen (65 kg), a synthetic fluid reservoir mounted on the dashboard, a height corrector and a locking valve. The system is completed by extended front torsion bars visible from either side of the grille, and anti-roll bars at the front and rear. The hull is reinforced with 12/10 thick sheet metal for a 25% weight increase. To enhance the car's comfort, the interior layout was slightly modified. New, softer seats, still upholstered in grey mohair velour but with no visible seams, and a carpet lined with a Dunlopillo mattress, like the future DS. Our traction car is in beautiful condition, in an unusual shade of grey, and has been in the owner's possession for 57 years! 1955 CITROEN TRACTION 15/6 H Chassis number: 727677 French registration Unusual gray color The ultimate evolution of the model, the 15/6 Oléopneumatique was unveiled to the press on April 15, 1954.
