1924 Renault MT Series: 149454 Ex Charbonneaux French... - Lot 30 - Osenat
1924 Renault MT Series: 149454 Ex Charbonneaux French registration During the interwar years, Renault resumed its industrial expansion to become France's leading carmaker on the eve of the Second World War. The brand's aim was to occupy all the different market sectors, and since it no longer had a small, popular car in its catalog, Renault decided to reintroduce a lower-priced model. This model was the Renault 6CV, presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1922. It featured transverse spring suspension at the rear, a monoblock 4-cylinder engine with a cylinder head insert, and a 3-speed gearbox like the 10CV. This KJ-type 6CV was improved, and two years later, in 1924, the 6CV MT was launched. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, its main improvement was in horsepower, which rose from 6 to 15. Another version of the 6CV replaced it: the NN. The model we are offering for sale today is a piece of automotive history, in more ways than one. It left the factory on July 17, 1924, almost a century ago, and would have been sold that year by a Renault garage in Biarritz. Our MT later became part of the collection of stylist Philippe Charbonneaux, and was finally exhibited at the Musée Automobile in Reims. Although it doesn't run, this vehicle is a real collector's item, and a part of automotive history in its own right. 1924 Renault MT Series: 149454 Ex Charbonneaux French registration document During the interwar years, Renault resumed its industrial expansion to become France's leading carmaker on the eve of the Second World War.
