1957 RENAULT DAUPHINE Series: 2757949 French... - Lot 58 - Osenat
1957 RENAULT DAUPHINE Series: 2757949 French registration 2000 / 3000 Nice patina Introduced in 1956, the Renault Dauphine quickly established itself on the post-war French market as the popular saloon car, and achieved a commercial success that had nothing to envy the Renault 4CV, from which it inherited the mechanical base and architecture, namely a self-supporting hull and a rear-mounted engine. The Dauphine boasts 30hp for a top speed of 115km/h, an acceptable boot volume of 137dm3, a spare wheel that hides behind the front bumper, and an interior with an interesting volume, but it's above all its price that interests the public. As for the bodywork, it was designed by Ghia, with rounded lines for improved aerodynamics. It was at the end of 1955 that the name Dauphine was chosen, when one of the project's collaborators exclaimed: "The 4CV is the queen! The newcomer can only be the Dauphine! With its many qualities and low price, sales of the Dauphine exploded, and it was a real success. By 1957, it had become the best-selling car in France, accounting for a third of Renault's output. The Renault Dauphine we are offering for sale is in good overall condition, and comes with its registration papers. Sound and turning well, it's ready to cover many kilometers. 1957 RENAULT DAUPHINE Series: 2757949 French registration 2000 / 3000 Beautiful patina Introduced in 1956, the Renault Dauphine quickly established itself on the post-war French market as the popular saloon car, and achieved a commercial success that had nothing to envy the Renault 4CV, from which it inherited the mechanical base and architecture, namely a self-supporting hull and a rear-mounted engine.
