1972 ALPINE A110 BERLINETTE 1600S Serial... - Lot 44 - Osenat
1972 ALPINE A110 BERLINETTE 1600S Serial number: 17965 Body number: 5607 Paint number: 10 Color : Jaune REDELE Power : 9cv French registration Registration date : May 10, 1972 Rare 1st hand ! 20 000 / 30 000 The Alpine 1600s series 17965 is of the 1600VC type, i.e. equipped with the 1605cc engine that enabled an extension of homologation to allow the 1800cc engine to be homologated in group 4 for the marque's racing models! Consultation of the Alpine sales records held by the brand's sales department gives us the following information: Alpine 17965, body number 5607, color yellow, was sold on May 8, 1972 for 30,833 francs (excluding broker's commission) to Mr. R., via the Renault garage in Paris 11eme. It's been a first-hand car for 51 years! It bears its three identification plates on the front apron, with their authentic rivets. The berlinette, which appears not to have been driven for several decades, is original and fairly complete. It features a manolene fuel tank with quick-release front cap, original seats and steering wheel, and original rims. The bumpers are metal, but need to be completely rechromed. The engine appears to be that which equipped the car. It has not been possible to see the gearbox to determine whether it is a 353 (small gearbox) or a 364 (large gearbox). Most of the side moldings and scoop moldings are present. Note that the right rear engine mount has been removed and replaced by a tie rod, and that the right rear of the chassis and wheel arch appear to have been heavily modified. This Alpine, which is the most sought-after model, is very close to the original apart from this rear transformation, and wears a highly desirable color (RDL yellow) not available on the Alpine NGs sold by Alpine in 2023! However, to get back to the condition in which Mr. R. had seen his berlinette in 1972 in Paris, it would have to be completely restored, in particular by stripping the chassis, placing it on marble, restoring it and sandblasting it. A copy of the 17965 Alpine sales register will be provided to the buyer.
