Hina matsuri is a festival held in Japan on March 3, a day dedicated to little girls. In the days leading up to March 3, Japanese girls display precious dolls on multi-level platforms. These special dolls, sometimes handed down from generation to generation, are stored in a cardboard box for the rest of the year. They represent characters from the imperial court of the Heian era. This ancient festival dates back to the Heian era.
