[FABRE DE LAMARTILLIÈRE (Jean). - LOUIS XVIII. Piece signed "Louis" (secretary), countersigned by Duke Armand-Emmanuel de Vignerot Du Plessis de RICHELIEU as president of the Council of Ministers, and twice by Étienne-Denis PASQUIER as Keeper of the Seals, with 3 apostilles, one of which signed by Alphonse-Jean-Nicolas Cuvillier as secretary general of the Seal and one by Louis-François Cauchy as keeper of the archives of the Chamber of Peers. Paris, December 9, 1817. One p. in-plano oblong on parchment, green wax seal affixed on red and green silk lakes, the whole placed in a metallic case. Letters of confirmation concerning the elevation to the peerage of the count of Empire Jean Fabre de Lamartillière, which had been decided by ordinance of June 4, 1814 during the first Restoration. He is here authorized to keep his title of count and is granted a coat of arms. THE ARTILLERY GENERAL JEAN FABRE DE LAMARTILLIÈRE (1732-1819) began his career during the Seven Years' War, continued his military career during the Revolution and the Consulate, becoming a general during the Roussillon War (1793), then serving in Germany and in Italy under Suchet. He was admitted to retirement in 1802, made senator and count of the Empire. Nice calligraphy header, with painted coat of arms.
