Large in-4 (33 x 28 cm), (17) ff. of which 8 are blank; red-brown calf veined with black, smooth spine with title in blue cut-out letters, boards decorated with overlapping garnet-edged blades, lining of the same leather, grey suede endpapers, covers and spine of the text and suites preserved; spine folder of the same leather with title pushed in metallic blue letters and flaps of the same leather, with grey suede lining, lined case; folder and case a little rubbed (mm - 1977). ORIGINAL EDITION printed at 105 copies on B.F.K. de Rives vellum, signed by the author. ONE OF 25 HEAD COPS WITH TRIPLE SUITE OF THE PLANTS, here drawn in black, sanguine and violine, all justified and SIGNED BY THE ARTIST. These are the only copies to include this suite with 13 others out of trade. 6 LITHOGRAPHS BY MAX ERNST, printed in blue on fine paper applied on sheets mounted on tabs, justified and SIGNED BY THE ARTIST. SUPERB BINDING SIGNED BY MONIQUE MATHIEU. This series of lithographs had been composed by Max Ernst in 1939 to serve as an illustration for Paul Éluard's book Chanson complète, but it had been refused. Jean Tardieu was then inspired by these prints to write the present poetic suite.
