WEDDING OF THE DOLPHIN. - Ball prepared in Versailles for the wedding of my lord the Dauphin on Wednesday, February 24, 1745. In-12 oblong on strong laid paper. This print, engraved by Charles-Nicolas Cochin fils with the arms of the future marshal-duc de Richelieu, first gentleman of the Chamber in charge of the spectacles, also bears the engraved signature of Michel de Bonneval, intendant of the Menus plaisirs. Elder son of Louis XV and Marie Leszczynska, the Dauphin Louis married the Infanta Maria Theresa of Spain in 1745, but she died prematurely in 1746, after giving birth. Louis died in his turn in 1765, but three of the sons he had from his second wife, Marie-Josèphe de Saxe, ascended the throne: Louis XVI, Louis XVIII and Charles X. RARE AND DECORATIVE DOCUMENT.
