LOUIS XVII (Louis-Charles de France, future).... - Lot 7 - Osenat
LOUIS XVII (Louis-Charles de France, future). Curl of his hair, accompanied by two documents, one autograph of MARIE-ANTOINETTE, the other autograph of LOUIS XVI. The whole mounted in the modern period on 2 large leaves in-folio of flexible cardboard. - MARIE-ANTOINETTE. Address in her hand, on an envelope: "TO MADAME LA COMTESSE DU ROURE". On the back a red wax seal with her royal arms. Also on the back, an old inscription in ink from another hand, "Dauphin's hair". - LOUIS XVI. Autograph mention on a folded sheet: "CHEVEUX, LE DAUPHIN". Inscribed on the back, in another hand, "Mr. Le Marq. Du Roure", and, again in another hand, "cheveux du Dauphin". Provenance: Françoise-Antoinette-Catherine-Denise de Grimoard de Beauvoir Du Roure (1763-1846), daughter of a menin of the Dauphin (father of Louis XVI), and who was lady-in-waiting to the Countess of Provence (wife of the future Louis XVIII). His son, Scipion, Marquis Du Roure, served as an officer in the King's Bodyguard. Modern inscriptions on the brackets indicate that the Countess Du Roure left this relic to the Duke of La Rochefoucauld-Liancourt, and that he bequeathed it "to Mr. Heurteloup". The first inscription on the back of the leaflet in the hand of Louis XVI is in a handwriting very close to that of Dr. Charles-Louis-Stanislas Heurteloup, the son of the surgeon-in-chief of the Grande Armée Nicolas Heurteloup.
