EMBROIDERED BINDING. - THE SEASONS. Singing almanac. In Paris, by Janet, 1810. In-24, stiff binding stretched in raw silk embellished with gilt and silver threads as well as gilt metal parts: smooth spine partitioned and decorated with flowers, boards decorated with a geometrical design with a large central floral motif, mirror on the upper counterfold framed with a yellow ribbon with a frieze of gilt metal parts, upper guard of pink moire, gusset of pink moire on the lower counterfold; a metal part detaching on the spine, cracks in the mirror (period binding). Red long-grain morocco slipcase, smooth spine threaded and decorated with flowers, fine gilt frieze framing the boards, inner lining of blue moire (contemporary slipcase). CHARMING VOLUME, partly printed and partly copper-engraved, comprising: a calendar for the year 1810 in 2 folding printed panels placed one at the head and the other at the end of the volume, illustrated with small engraved woodcuts; (12) printed ff. bound in the center of the volume; 13 ff. of copper-engraved text (illustrated title with blank verso and 24 numbered pp.) bound in 2 parts on either side of the printed booklet; 12 copper-engraved plates out of the text, placed opposite the engraved text. Not included in the bibliography of John Grand-Carteret. DELICATE EMBROIDERED BINDING OF THE PERIOD. PROVENANCE: CATHERINE THIBOUST, COMTESSE BOULAY DE LA MEURTHE, wife of the State Councillor and Minister of Justice of Napoleon I (dry stamp on the title page, and handwritten note on the verso).
