CAMPAIGN TUMBLER WITH THE ARMS OF GENERAL DORSENNE. In silver, flared at the drinker, engraved (wear) with the arms of Count of the Empire surmounting the orders of the Iron Crown, the Legion of Honor and the military merit Maximilian Joseph (Bavaria) Stamped below the arms and under the kettledrum "C.B." Height: 85 mm. Diameter : 75 mm. Net weight : 113 g. Hallmark 950 and medium guarantee Paris (1809-1819). Hallmark of the association of goldsmiths. Goldsmith's hallmark. A.B.E. First Empire period An engraving after Le Suire (1812) of General Count Dorsenne in the uniform of the foot grenadiers of the Guard, framed under glass. 17,5 x 13,5 cm. Biography : DORSENNE (Jean-Marie-François Lepaige, comte). French general (Ardres, Pas-de-Calais 1773 - Paris 1812). Volunteer in 1792 and elected captain, he was soon appointed chief of battalion. He made the Egyptian campaign where he was wounded. Colonel in 1800, he distinguished himself at the battle of Austerlitz (December 2, 1805, in Moravia, near Brno) and was appointed brigadier general. He contributed to the success of Eylau (February 7 and 8, 1807, in Russia, near Kœnisberg): Napoleon I's victory over the Russians and the Prussians. He fought in Spain, then made the 1809 campaign. In June 1809, he became a major general and returned to Spain. His health forced him to return to Paris where he died in 1812 following a trepan operation.
