Rectangular miniature, signed lower left "Vincent". 8 x 6.4 cm. Presented in a large chased bronze and malachite frame. 16,5 x 13,5 cm. Biographies : Antoine-Paul VINCENT. He exhibited his miniatures from 1800 to 1812 at the Paris Salon. Schidlof defines him as an artist of quality, still little appreciated, because his works are rare. He adds that some of them are reminiscent of Isabey's early works and equal him in quality. This is the case of our portrait which he selects and publishes in Die Bildnisminiatur in Frankreich, 1911 (p.251, Plate XVII). Schidlof also mentions the work in The Miniature in Europe in the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Centuries, 1964, praising its quality.
