1977 LAMBORGHINI
"Chassis number: 9826 Engine number: 51416 The fastest 4-seater in its time Same owner since 1986 French title Presented in March 1958 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Lamborghini Espada (with the Islero) replaced the 400 GT 2+2. Designed by Marcello Gandini, the Espada (sword in Italian) is slim and aerodynamic. Its almost horizontal rear window and glass boot give it an innovative look for its time. It is almost 30 centimetres longer than its predecessor. It is spacious, comfortable and allows its rear passengers to travel long distances without problems. Powered by a 350 hp 4.0L V12 engine, it became the fastest 4-seater of its time. The Espada Series III appeared in 1972. Between the Series I and the Series II, the power of the V12 was increased from 335 to 350 hp. With the Series III, some modifications were also made, such as a new like a new aluminium dashboard, new rims and power steering as standard. The Espada's life spanned 10 years, from 1968 to 1978. The Lamborghini Espada we are presenting is a third series produced in 1977. Its history is particularly interesting. Bought in 1986 by Mr. K in Belgium, it was complete, the interior clean, the body and the chassis sound but the whole mechanical part needed to be revised! So he had to restore the main parts: engine, gearbox, axle, brakes... down to the last screw! Meticulous, Thierry K then sanded the chassis. The work was fastidious, especially since the brown primer paint was blending with the rust marks. The screws were then either chrome-plated, nickel-plated or replaced with stainless steel screws. The original black-painted parts were cataphoretically treated before being coated with epoxy and varnish. To complete the restoration, he bought a second Espada, in average condition, in order to recover certain parts. As such, our car is accompanied by an additional complete engine installed on a bench as well as its gearbox and cooling system. The engine installed in the Espada we are presenting is the engine of the car recovered for parts, and it is indeed the original engine that is on the dyno! An important file of invoices and reports will be given to the purchaser. This file documents the complete restoration of the vehicle. In addition, impressions of conversations with Lamborghini about the car are included. The car has a few minor defects such as paintwork showing a patina of use in places and wear on the driver's seat. Beyond that, the car starts without any problems and is very pleasant to drive. The manual gearbox doesn't creak and is quite intuitive. Its general condition allows it to be driven every day. An engaging car, it will take four passengers anywhere and they will be delighted with its comfort and purr."
