The commercial success will be unquestionable but its design, despite its evolutions, will run up against a glass ceiling and will quickly go out of fashion around the middle of the 50s. The company with the octagon reacted and, in 1955, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, two MG "barquettes", prototypes with special bodywork designated EX 182, were seen racing. A few months later, these cars were seen in customer versions: the MGA was born. The name MGA was given to symbolize that it was the first one with a real new line. The design of this car is fluid, it is a road racing car. Its look is much more modern than the MG T-series and it will soon overshadow them.
