1946 BUICK
"Chassis number: L889 Interesting configuration Unusual vehicle French title The Buick Roadmaster is a car produced from 1936 to 1958, which perfectly illustrates the best of the American car industry. The fourth generation, which was produced from 1942 to 1948, was longer, wider and lower than the previous models. It had its bonnet double-hinged so that both engine compartments could be opened, before reverting to a conventional upward opening. Production ceased during the war before resuming in 1946. In post-war models, chrome was used to a lesser extent and an aviation-inspired bonnet ornament was applied. The cabriolet versions differed from the other models, with a body-coloured dashboard instead of wood. The engine is the same as the other models, with its power rating reduced from 165 to 144 bhp, without affecting the torque. Despite this reduction in power, it is still above a top-of-the-range Chrysler, the main competitor. It sold 31,400 units, representing 20% of the brand's sales in 1946. This example of the Buick Roadmaster was first registered in 1946. Produced as a convertible body, this car is in beautiful overall condition. The combination of a green paint job and a beige soft top suits it well. The chrome is in good condition, as is the bodywork. Under this huge bonnet is an 8 cylinder engine. Made to travel many miles, this car will take you far and comfortably."
