MIRÓ (Joan). Autograph letter signed to his "old Pierre" [pr - Lot 44
MIRÓ (Joan). Autograph letter signed to his "old Pierre" [probably the Parisian gallery owner Pierre Loeb]. Barcelona, September 25, 1946. 2 pp. in-8. "My old Pierre, Teeny Matisse [Alexina Sattler, known as "Teeny", then wife of Henri Matisse's son, Pierre Matisse, gallery owner in New York] will have given you some news about me. How are things at home? Here everything works and the work does not stop. A word from you would give me great pleasure; I know that everything is complicated now! I'm going to New York, for a short time only, and will look for a way to get to Paris, of course! I already want to! MONSIEUR BERTELE [director of Le Point du Jour] Wrote to me about illustrating a book of poems by GEORGES NEVEUX. I thought of doing some lithos in black. He asks me what my conditions are; I wrote to him to address you, those that you propose to him will be mine. ALL MY MOST AFFECTED FRIENDS TO PICASSO, Zervos [the art critic and editor, Christian Zervos, director of the magazine cahiers d'art], and to friends. I hope you have put aside for yourself some of what Teeny brought back from Barcelona. How did it affect you and your friends? Pilar and Dolores [Joan Miró's wife and daughter] join me in sending you and yours our warmest greetings. Hoping to see you soon, believe in all my dedication and old friendship... "
