ACMA 1959 VESPA TROUPES AÉROPORTÉES Serial number: 511TAP59 Collection CGF To restart The Vespa 150 tAP (TAP for "troops airborne”) or “Bazooka Vespa” is a Vespa scooter modified to transport a 75 mm M20 recoilless gun. He has was used in the late 1950s by French airborne troops during the Algerian war. Built by Construction Workshops of Motorcycles and Automobiles (ACMA) in 1956 and 1959, an assembler under Vespa license in France, this scooter relatively inexpensive allowed rapidly deploy by air-drop parachute a team of two people (gunner and loader) with a vehicle. The barrel was never intended to be pulled from the scooter, which is only a transport means. The cannon was mounted on a foldable tripod supplied with the scooter Around 600 of these scooters (“TAP 56” versions and “TAP 59”) were produced. The project dates back to the Indochina war. This scooter is totally original. He was certainly repainted during his military period but directly on the old paint which reappears undamaged in different places due to poor adhesion to the original paint. It is therefore quite possible to bring out completely the original paint. The bodywork is in good condition as well as the whole scooter. He was parachuted into Algeria and then returned to France and no longer has its gun. He participated in different rallies.
