Serial number: 142530 CGF + key old restoration To restart The PIAGGIO firm was founded in 1884 in Genoa to craft equipment interiors of boats then of railway wagons iron and from 1915, planes and seaplanes. It seems that the 1st prototype of the Vespa scooter dates from 1945 but the first marketed will be in 1946 with all the success that will ensue. Following the success of Vespa in Italy, its production was launched in Europe with Hoffmann then Messerschmitter in Germany and Douglas in England. For France, the government retrocedes the SNCAC a former nationalized factory then in full decline to a financial group which constitutes the ACMA Company (Construction Workshops and Motorcycles and Accessories). From 1952, the manufacturing will be 100% French. Having purchased the manufacturing license from PIAGGIO, this one will have as difference than the passing headlight position from the front fender to the handlebar following the French legislation which requires a minimum distance of 60 cm from the ground. In 1962, ACMA closed its doors and Vespa France is created for the import of Italian scooters for the French market
