Alban PÉRÈS, " La matrice de Jacques Chabot ", Revue française d'héraldique et de sigillographie -Études en ligne, 2020-9, July 2020, 6p. Biography: Jacques CHABOT (c. 1565-1630), known as "Mirebeau", marquis of Mirebeau, count of Charny, adviser to the king in his councils of state and privy, ordinary gentleman of the king's chamber, mestre-de-camp of the regiment of Champagne, captain of 50 men-at-arms of the ordinances, lieutenant-general in the government of Burgundy. Son of François Chabot, and heir of his uncle Léonor. He served Henry IV valiantly in his wars, and it is to him that is due in large part the happy result of the battle of Fontaine-Française (1595), after which the king wrote to the Parliament of Paris: "The Marquis of Mirebeau, having with him only 200 men, has prevented, without any stream between two, an army of 12,000 men to enter the kingdom. The king always held Jacques Chabot in high esteem and liked having him around. Jacques Chabot was made a knight of the king's orders on January 5, 1597 in the church of the abbey of Saint-Ouen in Rouen. On the fateful day of May 14, 1610, Jacques Chabot was in the carriage of Henri IV when he was stabbed by Ravaillac. He then retired to his lands in Burgundy where he died of apoplexy on March 29, 1630, and was buried in the Sainte-Chapelle in Dijon.
