THE IMPERIAL PRINCE Rare and unique uniform cap of cadet of the Royal Military Academy that belonged to the Imperial Prince. In dark blue cloth, bordered on the lower part of a large braid with lizard in golden trimmings. The cap decorated in the center of a half-spherical button fully embroidered with silver canetille gold. Inside burgundy silk stitched, with natural leather band. Patent leather chinstrap (broken). Inside the cap is pinned a bill of provenance from the hand of Baron Tristan Lambert: "Uniform cap of the students of the English Artillery School at Woolwich. This cap belonged to and was worn for over a year by Napoleon IV who gave it to me in 1874. Worn at Woolwich 1872,1873,1874. Good T. Lambert." Diam: 15 cm. Height : 5,5 cm. B.E. Provenance : -The Imperial Prince. -Given to his friend, the Baron Tristan Lambert. -Then descent. History: This cap is visible on many representations of the Imperial Prince: on the period photographs taken at the Royal Military Academy of Woolwich, as well as on the large full-length portrait of the Prince by Campotosto.
