SMALL BOX with curved lid inlaid with mother-of-pearl... - Lot 60 - Osenat
SMALL BOX with curved lid inlaid with mother-of-pearl plates decorated with animals, flowers and a hunter. German work of the XVIIth century, probably Augsburg. Height: 5.9 cm, Width: 10 cm, Depth: 6.6 cm (missing and worn) The animal decoration can be linked to the engravings of Adriaen Collaert (1560-1618) and his collection titled Animalium Quadrupedum from which many productions of Augsburg were inspired, including several boxes for games of tric-trac, one of which is preserved at the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv no. 567-1899).
