1993 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF COUNTRY
1991 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF COUNTRY Rare Golf with all-wheel drive To be registered in France The beginnings of an SUV, an attempt to compete with the Fiat Panda 4x4? No one can explain how the Golf Country came to be. However, we know that this concept was very popular at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show. So much so that Volkswagen decided to start production. The concept is quite simple: a Golf II with all-wheel drive. This idea of a 4-wheel drive Golf is not new. In 1986, Volkswagen had already launched the production of a Golf with all-wheel drive: the Golf Syncro. However, the Country has a higher ground clearance, a front and rear bull bar and a spare wheel at the rear. In addition, a roof rack was available as an option. Only 7,735 units left the production line in Steyr-Puch in Austria, which makes this Golf a rather rare car. The car is presented in a nice original condition. One can clearly see the increased ground clearance compared to the basic Golf. The engine runs well but a mechanical revision is needed. The bodywork and the paint are also in good general condition despite some imperfections. The interior of the car is also in good condition and shows a patina due to its normal use. Clearly, this Golf Country is ready to hit the road, or rather the forest roads. It can climb any hill and cross dirt fields. If you like offroading, this is the car for you!
