SECRETARY OF PENTE in marquetry of flowers of wood of end on bottom of satiny in frames of amaranth (also plated in the back), opening with three drawers (of which one forming safe) and a flap discovering six drawers, three compartments and a secret compartment, (restorations, accidents and misses, in particular a bottom of drawer). Stamped by Jacques Philippe Carel (master in 1723) and Adrien Delorme (master in 1748). Louis XV period. H : 101 cm, W : 93 cm, D : 49 cm A very similar secretary, also stamped by Carel, was sold at Christie's in Paris on October 4, 2006, lot 379 (€ 36 000). Jacques-Philippe Carel delivered to the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne, through the intermediary of François-Antoine Gaudreaus, three small sloping secretaries, one for Madame de Pompadour at the Château de la Muette in 1748 (P. Arizzoli-Clémentel, Le Mobilier de Versailles, Dijon, 2002, p. 65-67), the two others in 1751 for the daughters of Louis XV at the Château de Versailles. Adrien Delorme probably intervened in the second half of the 18th century in the context of a subsequent sale of the furniture around 1740-1745.
