Guillaume Desire DESCAMPS (1779-1858) Portrait of Ignace-Joseph Vanlerberghe de Busigny holding a letter. Oil on canvas signed and dated "1819" (accident, cracks). Gilded frame with palmettes. 62 x 51 cm. Related work: Guillaume Descamps, "Portrait of Ignace Vanlerberghe (1758-1819), banker and supplier to the armies". Portrait dated 1819 in the collections of the Musée Carnavalet. Biography: Ignace-Joseph Vanlerberghe de BUSIGNY (1758-1819). A grain trader, he made a great fortune as a supplier to the armies. He became a banker under the Empire but went bankrupt in 1811. He was the father of Eglée, wife of Etienne Emile Cornudet.
