1966 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER
Serial number: 199918 Chrysler's stylistic renewal American-style cruising Collector's French title The Chrysler New Yorker is a high-end model manufactured by the American Chrysler between 1939 and 1996. The New Yorker was once the flagship of the company's model range. Its origin comes from the New York Special, a sub-series of the Imperial of 1938 which received in 1939 the name New Yorker. For 1966, the styling was an evolution of the 1965 themes. Changes included a new grille, new taillights and revised side trim. The biggest change was the adoption of the new 7.2L Firepower V8 engine. In its standard form, it produced 355 hp (261 kW). The optional high-performance 7.2L engine was equipped with dual intakes, a muffler and dual exhausts, and produced 370 hp (272 kW). The New Yorker line lost a model in 1966, as the Town & Country station wagon was now marketed as a separate line. The Town Sedan 4-door, 6-window and hardtop 2-door and 4-door body styles were retained. 1966 was another good sales year for the Chrysler division, with a nearly 29 percent increase in production and sales to 262,495 units. Despite this, sales figures for the New Yorker dropped somewhat to 47,579. This model is a beautiful navy-blue sedan offering a V8 engine that runs smoothly. The rocker covers and air filter are chromed. The wiring harness has been revised and the original upholstery is in good condition. The front and rear lights are also in good condition and work normally. The front and rear bumpers are also chromed and in good condition. The gearbox has been fully serviced. This 1966 Chrysler New Yorker is just waiting for you to cruise around, with your arm on the door.
