History: In July 1803, the First Consul Napoleon arrived in Brussels with Josephine on his arm for the last time. The couple was welcomed with great pomp for nearly 10 days. On his arrival a procession led him to the City Hall. A te deum is given in his honor in the cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula. The celebration was in full swing, in a general chaos that even Napoleon could not help but deplore.
