"THE IMPERIAL PRINCE (1856-1879). Tartan set that belonged to the Prince including : A pair of breeches in cloth with tartan pattern. Closing with six buttons at the crotch. With mauve silk ribbons on the belt. 38 x 50 cm. - Pair of long socks. Length : 54 cm. Second Empire period. (Holes and missing)." Provenance : UHLMANN Collection. History: Having Scottish origins through his mother, the young Imperial Prince owned several Scottish panoplies. His mother, the Empress Eugenie had made a trip to Scotland in 1860 after the sudden death of her sister, the Duchess of Alba.
