DELANGLE, MINISTER OF THE INTERIOR Imperial Almanac for the year 1858 Guyot et Scribe, Paris, 1858. 1196 pages with gilt edges. Beautiful red morocco binding decorated with vegetal friezes. First plate with the number "D" in gothic letters under royal crown. Interior in moiré paper. Spine with title and gold decoration with the imperial eagle. 24 x 16 cm. A.B.E. (Small wear) Claude Alphonse Delangle, (1797-1869) After a brilliant judicial career which led him to the Court of Cassation, then to the first presidency of the Court of Appeal of Paris, he became deputy of Cosne, supported Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte then entered the Senate. He then became Minister of the Interior (14 June 1858 - 5 May 1859) and then of Justice (5 May 1859 - 23 June 1863). He was then appointed first vice-president of the Senate and then replaced André Dupin as Attorney General of the Court of Cassation (1865). Both were born in Varzy. He was elected member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques in 1859.
