NAPOLEON I. Correspondence. Paris, Henri Plon, J. Dumaine, 1858-1870. 32 volumes in-8, dark green half-chagrin, spines with crowned imperial cipher gilded at the head and tail, dark green chagrined percaline boards, spotted edges, slight snags on some spines, freckles (period binding). First collective collection of the emperor's letters, which was published in two almost concomitant editions, one in 32 in-4 volumes issued by the Imprimerie impériale from 1858 to 1869, the other, to which the present copy belongs, recomposed in 32 in-8 volumes and published by Henri Plon and Jean Dumaine. It also includes the most complete edition of the Œuvres of Napoleon Ier: memoirs, treatises, essays, occupying the pages of the last 4 volumes. Nevertheless without the purely literary texts of the emperor, which appeared separately later. A very fine and decorative copy.
