TRIUMPH Acclaim H - Lot 130
TRIUMPH Acclaim H To be restored and registered as a collection Faced with the rout of the British Leyland group, Honda is approaching it to find an agreement by which a Honda car could be produced and marketed under a European badge In practice, everything is not so simple for the Honda Ballade to become a European car, 50% of the parts must be produced in the European space. Triumph will therefore pick parts from right and left to fill this quota: McPherson suspension, upholstery from Ford, ... In the end, the Triumph Acclaim has the same exterior appearance as the Honda Ballade but its equipment is much richer: headlight washers, electric windows, wheel covers, velvet upholstery, and air conditioning in option. Mechanically, the Triumph Acclaim is equipped with a four-cylinder petrol engine of Honda origin (the only part manufactured in Japan), which measures 1,335cm3 and is coupled to a five-speed gearbox, or a three-speed automatic gearbox strongly inspired by the Hondamatic. The power supply is provided by a double-body carburettor whereas the Ballade was fed by a single body. The set develops 70 HP and allows a top speed around 155km/h.
