ALBERT LEBOURG (1849-1928) Study of cats (recto) Sketch of a rider and a galloping horse (verso) Charcoal on paper Signed, dated and dedicated 'ALebourg a son ami Bonhomme 1918' at the bottom center, recto 30.5 x 23 cm. Provenance: M. Bonhomme, Pont-du-Château (gift of the artist, in 1918). Private collection, Paris. Mr François Lespinasse has confirmed the authenticity of this work. During the bombing of Paris by the Big Bertha between March and August 1918, Albert Lebourg found refuge with his friend M. Bonhomme in Auvergne, in Pont-du-Château. He dedicated several works to him during this period, including the present drawing.
