Pair of patinated and gilded bronze CANDELABRES representing women draped in the antique style, their arms in offering supporting seven lights on two rows: six branches in the form of cornucopia and a light at the top decorated with a swan. They stand on rectangular bases with winged horses and trumpets held by ribbons Empire period (patina) H : 91 - W : 33 - D : 35 cm Candelabras of identical model appeared in the sale of the castle of Groussay from June 2 to 6, 1999 under the n°2, another example in the sale in Bayeux March 28, 2016 under the n°198, coming from the former collection of the colonel Rycx and the Sale in Vieuxville in Ferrières (Belgium) September 8, 1958 n°255. It seems that the model of these candelabras cannot be directly linked to the work of a Parisian bronze-maker active in the first decades of the 19th century; however, similarities can be noted with some of the creations of the bronze-makers Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751-1843) and Claude Galle (1751-1815), who used certain decorative motifs, notably swans, in some of his creations On September 3, 1808 Galle, rue Vivienne N°9, delivers for the Palais de Compiègne "four swan lights with three matted and gilded arms of lights, two for the emperor's bathroom, two for the empress' bathroom".
