One finds under the same coast of file, in this same memory of the supplies made to the Palace of Fontainebleau for His Majesty and King, according to the orders of the Administrator of the Imperial Furniture and under the authorization of Mr. Intendant General. By JacobDesmalter et cie manufacturers rue Meslée N°57, Prices discussed and decided by the Administrator On the 1st Floor, 2nd Apartment of Prince Souverain, in the Bedroom "a chest of drawers of 4 feet, in mahogany wood, decorated with chased and gilded bronzes, entirely similar to the one of the bedroom on the ground floor. Price stopped.......2000 1880 " The chest of drawers we present could have corresponded to this second description except that its size does not correspond and that this second chest of drawers has been identified by its inventory numbers even if the antique vases are in fact lyres 2. The chest of drawers that we present here, attests that this decoration has known a certain success, we also find it in less important proportions on a secretary chest of drawers delivered by Jacob D. on September 6, 1805 for the bedroom of Prince Louis at the palace of Fontainebleau 3. Identical laurel wreaths are found on two Meubles-serre papiers delivered on September 1, 1810 for the Grand Cabinet l'Empereur at the Grand Trianon (inv T96c) 4. These Etruscan vases are also found on a sofa made for M. Goix-Coulomb, banker 5. 1- Memorandum of March 22, 1811: AN O2 518 (file 3, room 44) 2- JP.
