1971 CITROËN MEHARI
1971 CITROEN MEHARI Serial number 02CA1036 Nice condition of restoration French registration On 11 May 1968, the Mehari was launched and presented in Deauville. It was a very bad start! France was going through some "events". It was a leisure car designed for open-air driving. The basic structure was the platform of the Citroën Dyane, which in turn descended from the 2cv. Available as a 2-seater, the rear bench seat could be selected as an option to make it a 4-seater. The bodywork is made of ABS plastic. It can be seen as a modern interpretation of a French "Jeep". In 1978, the Mehari received front disc brakes and a removable grille. This was the third and last model to be sold until 1987, with a total of 41,805 units produced. The Mehari AZUR is a special series and has its own soft top system, which was only available in one version in two colours, blue and white. The rims are openwork and specific to the model. It is very summery in its name and presentation. Like the 2CV Charleston, the production was originally intended to be limited. It was planned to produce 700 units, but due to its success the model was included in the Citroën catalogue. Like the other Mehari, it was offered in two or four seats. The car we are offering was first registered in April 1971, three years after the first Mehari was produced. Restored to new except for the engine, it has an original aesthetic configuration of white and red matching the skai seats of the interior. A true 4-seater, its folding rear bench seat offers this vehicle extraordinary versatility. With its rudimentary 2CV mechanics, robust and revised, this Mehari demonstrates very good behaviour on roads and tracks. A model that is increasingly sought after and even re-built by the Mehari club in Cassis, we offer you the possibility of acquiring a Mehari in very good condition, a symbol of post-1968 France.
