IMPORTANT TAPESTRY OF FELLETIN (AUBUSSON... - Lot 126 - Osenat
IMPORTANT TAPESTRY OF FELLETIN (AUBUSSON REGION) END OF THE 17TH CENTURY, BEGINNING OF THE 18TH CENTURY, IN WOOL AND SILK. Carton inspired by the engraving : the return of the work From the Pastorales (suite of 17 pieces) after Claudine Bouzonnet Stella (1641-1697) Decorated with five characters including the engaged couple on the left, a woman wearing a crown of flowers, a musician playing the biniou (probably from Brittany) and a shepherd and his flock of sheep on the right. In perspective, a castle on the right surrounded by rich vegetation. The border is decorated with sprays and garlands of flowers and foliage in the form of feathers. Four spandrels with bundles of leaves. Good condition 254 x 475 cm (wear and tear) Bibliography: Lyon municipal library Unlike the engraving, we see on the right a castle and not a building. The movement of the characters is very interesting and reminds us of the village festivals, especially in the loves of Gombault and Macé.
