In-32 (114 x 114 mm), (14) ff. all included, of which the first 2 and last 2 are blank, sienna box, openwork cork inserts mosaicked on the spine and boards in the semblance of human profiles, with author, illustrator and titles in gilt and white letters on the spine and first board, cream suede lining, black suede endpapers, gilt head, cover and spine preserved, white paint on the letters chipped in places, spine folder of the same leather and lined case faded and worn (inv. DRAWING SIGNED BY PABLO PICASSO, in the frontispiece. This engraving is the origin of the work, Pierre-André Benoit having composed his poem to reflect the feelings that the contemplation of the work inspired in him. ONE OF THE 6 COPIES WITH A SANGUINE SUITE OF THE FRONTISPIECE, ALSO SIGNED BY THE ARTIST. The total number of leaves of the volume, usually 12, is here increased to 14, the engraving in red having been stamped on the inner right-hand page of a double leaf with the other pages blank. The copy is enriched with a third print of the drypoint, mounted on the front of the third blank page. ELEGANT ROSE ADLER BINDING, characteristic of his last creative period, dominated by simple geometrical forms and transparency effects.
