1963 AMPHICAR 770
Chassis n° 103956 - Rare amphibious touring model - Complete quality restoration - Ready to drive and sail ! - French collector's registration - Navigation title Amphicar - The sports car that goes! Launched at the New York Auto Show in 1961, the Amphicar Model 770 is an amphibious car, manufactured in West Germany and marketed from 1961 to 1968. It was powered by a 1,147cc Triumph engine that allowed it to reach 125 km/h on the road and 8 knots on the water. It is a car which was essentially intended for the United States with a style specific to this market and the style of the late 1950s and early 1960s. 3878 units were produced and 99 left-hand drive Amphicars were converted to right-hand drive cars. Amphicars were also used by the Berlin police and others were equipped for rescue operations. The example we present was purchased in 2011 by its current owner. The car still has its original paintwork which does not prevent it from being perfectly waterproof and corrosion-free, thanks to a change of all the seals. The car works perfectly on the road as well as on the water. Also note, a new soft top comes to dress this Amphicar, in case of storm!
