1995 FERRARI F355 CHALLENGE
Serial number ZFFPA41B00101523 25,000 original kilometers Delivered new in France Genuine customer competition configuration Important file of invoices French registration Stylistic and mechanical evolution of the 348, the Ferrari F355 is born in 1994, it is part of the line of rear mid-engine sedans established since the mid 1960s by the Dino 206 then 246 and especially in the early 1970s with the 308 Vetroresina. Even if the aesthetic lines of the F355 are still as taut as ever, they are starting to become rounder and prepare the important transition to the 360 Modena and the entry of the Maranello firm into the 21st century. Mechanically, the F355 receives the 90° V8 of its predecessors which, here, is re-bored to 3.5L of displacement (as its name indicates 355) for 380 horsepower at the rear wheels which allows the coupe to approach 300 km/h. One year after the release of the F355, Ferrari looked at the latter to design a competition model as for its big sister 348 two years before. It was thanks to the creation of the Ferrari Challenge in 1993 by 348 owners, which took place in Europe (including Italy) and North America, that the name "challenge" was first applied to the rear light grille of a car. The F355 follows this recent tradition. The challenge version is entirely based on the production model but gains a few kilos on the empty weight scale; the mechanics are unchanged and it's the clutch and exhaust that are specific to the competition model. Inside, the changes are more obvious with the installation of a roll bar, bucket seats, 6-point harnesses and circuit breakers, and of course the carpets, leather and superfluous items on the dashboard and in the central tunnel. With only 108 examples produced, the F355 Challenge is a small rarity that ran until 2000 when the 360 Challenge will gradually replace it. The Ferrari F355 Challenge we present to you was delivered new in France on March 3, 1995 and registered one year later in the property of Mr. J-M. Mora who raced with Mr. B. Chauvin in the newly created F355 Challenge. Chauvin in the recently created Ferrari Challenge championship. Sold in 2000, the Ferrari was seen in many races at the very beginning of its career with M.Chauvin behind the wheel until 1996 when it was M.Mora's turn to race on the most famous circuits in Western Europe: Paul Ricard, Nurburgring, Nogaro, Zandvoort (etc.). During these races, the Ferrari sported a red livery with blue and then red and yellow stripes. In 1998, Mora placed 6th in the Ferrari Europe Series Challenge. He continued to race the car until 1999. In 2000 the car was bought by Mr H. Cassenal who had a FFSA passport made the following year to run in the GT class. Afterwards, we could meet this racing stallion on the circuit of Le Vigeant for the charity operation "500 Ferrari against cancer" between 2006 and 2012. This Ferrari F355 Challenge has only 25,000 kilometres on the clock. On the outside, the red paint is tightly stretched all over the bodywork; at the rear, the mythical light grille where the French flag is painted can be seen. The adjustable challenge spoiler as well as the aluminium wheels specific to the competition model and painted in white complete the exterior of the berlinette. The right rear quarter window houses the quick-fill fuel system. The interior of this F355 has little to do with the standard model where luxurious leather is mixed with a certain refinement and comfort; here, the two seats are replaced by two red fabric buckets embroidered with "challenge" on the headrests, a roll bar is installed, the door panels are equipped with carbon panels and the carpets have been replaced by aluminium anti-slip plates. Only the black leather dashboard and some elements of the central tunnel remain, where the characteristic Ferrari gearbox is found. A lot of work has been done recently to bring the car back to its full racing potential; the clutch was replaced last year and the brakes overhauled for a bill of over 5,000 Euros; a complete paint job, a new exhaust and replacement of the spark plugs were also done in 2020 for over 6,000 Euros. The upper and lower wishbones and their silent-blocks were replaced the same year with a geometry check as well as the ball joints for 5,500 euros. All this work was done at LDO Racing, known for its quality work on the cars of the Maranello firm. It is therefore a
