1966 JAGUAR TYPE E S.1 4,2L FHC
SERIAL NUMBER 1E32078 MYTHICAL TYPE E SERIES 1 COMPETITION CONDITION FRENCH COLLECTOR'S LICENCE "One of the most beautiful dresses in the history of the automobile, an engine with a prodigious breath propelling the car to 240 km/h, all for half the price of a Ferrari! ». Launched at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Jaguar E-Type succeeded the XK150, the last of the XK series, and was the fastest production car in the world (240 km/h). L After three years of success, particularly in the United States, the uncomfortable, hard-to-drive "XK-E" with its Moss four-speed gearbox had to be modernized to face the new generation of Ferraris and the new Porsche 911 encroaching on its market of the "affordable" sports car. That's why the 3.8L was swapped for a 4.2L to gain in flexibility, while the Moss gearbox was replaced by a Jaguar four-speed. Finally, the interior lost its aluminum trim and semi-baquet seats for more comfort. Above all, the E-Type kept its pure design which made all its charm. Production lasted from 1961 to 1973 and was divided into 3 models (convertible, coupe and 2+2) and 3 series. There were many evolutions and modifications throughout the life of this model, often for regulatory reasons in the USA, sometimes to improve performance or practicality. This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Coupe 4.2L was delivered in 1966. Purchased by its current owner, it has undergone a total restoration from purchase to the present day. The paint, the interior and the mechanics are gleaming. Configured in burgundy exterior and Havana leather interior, this Phase 1 E-Type will turn the eyes of all British coupe lovers. The gearbox has been changed to a 5 speed manual with overdrive for daily use in modern traffic. The original 4 speed gearbox is supplied with the car. It has electronic ignition and Weber carburettors and a large aluminium radiator. Our E-Type is presented with an important file of invoices related to its restoration. It is rare to find an E-Type in this condition. A real competition beast, the E-Type S.1 FHC we offer for sale represents the right opportunity to acquire this mythical car with a state of the art restoration. It is when you see this model that you understand Enzo Ferrari's love affair.
