NOTICE: This drawing, one of the most important of the 'Ozon' series, is the origin of the collaboration between Savina and Le Corbusier. The title 'Ozon' comes from the place in the Pyrenees where Le Corbusier stayed during the Second World War. "In 1947, [Savina and Le Corbusier] were sufficiently connected and aware of their path to take advantage of the painting of volumes: receiving a photo of an imperfect research of an 'Ozon' that Savina undertook to paint, Le Corbusier recognizes that 'the polychromy seems to have changed the case'. ...] Is this not also what he meant when he recalled the origin of his intentions in sculpture: 'In the autumn of 1940 I found myself painting on sheets of machine paper, classifying forms, making them search for a real space. I found myself thinking sculpture, polychrome sculpture. I only realized this later'" (quoted in Joseph Savina, l'art et le métier, cat. exp. Musée de Saint-Brieuc, November 1988-January 1989, p. 36).
