That is to say: a copy of the notice which is devoted to him in the volume II of the Biographie nouvelle des contemporains (Paris, 1820, pp. 443-444), work written by Antoine-Vincent Arnault, Étienne-François Bazot, Antoine Jay, Étienne de Jouy and Jacques Marquet de Montbreton de Norvins: " ... General Bertrand accompanied Napoleon to the island of Elba, returned to France with him, underwent with his leader the stop of fortune at Waterloo, and always more devoted, more faithful as fate showed itself more contrary, he followed him on the burning rock of St. Helena, where the victors of one day confined the man who had defeated them for twenty years and whose power they had adored ... "- A copy of the end of the notice devoted to him in Volume II of the Galerie historique des contemporains (Brussels, Auguste Wahlen, 1818, vol. II, pp. 87-89). - And a copy of the notice which is devoted in the same work to the brother-in-law of Grand Marshal Bertrand, Édouard de Fitz-James, who testified for the prosecution at his trial (t. IV, 1818, pp. 397-398).
