BIENNAIS, ORFEBVRE DE LE M.M. IMPERIALES ET ROYALES Large invoice in folio of two pages with important header with the Monkey, beautiful and large engraved vignette on green bottom tracing the specialities of Biennais, goldsmith, tablemaker and cabinetmaker. Details the supplies for the service of Saint Majesty the Emperor and King for the months of frimaire and nivôse An XIV (November and December 1805) of which in particular a sword scabbard in roussette (Galuchat) with its gold trimmings, elements of kit restored after being damaged during the trip to Milan, two crosses of the Legion of Honor. Dimensions : 40 x 24 cm. B.E. Around 1805. Biography : Martin-Guillaume BIENNAIS (1764-1843). Tablemaker received master in 1788, buys the same year the modest fund of the tablemaker Claude-Louis Anciaux that he develops. Having agreed to supply the First Consul on credit, the latter, once Emperor, makes him his goldsmith. Biennais took advantage of this to extend his business to luxury items, including furniture, for the entire imperial family and the great dignitaries. His company employed up to two hundred workers. Under the Restoration, his attachment to the Emperor deprived him of royal orders, but he received several orders from abroad. In 1821, he sold his business to Cahier, which closed in 1830.
